One-arm-drive systems

Children with hemiparesis or tetraparesis, one arm significantly less power and functionality than the other, often tend to do many things one handed. Special for these children, we offer two different facilities. This is a double hoop and a Hemi handlebar grip.

Hemi handle bar

For hemiplegic children a steering handle can be fitted to the basic model (left or right). Children with spastic hemiplegia generally tend not to use the affected side. However, we still attempt to exercise the affected arm in a functional manner using a steering handle. If there is contact between the hand and the steering handle, which changes position in line with the direction, then the hand will also move. This 'forced' movement is actually a sensor-motor function exercise, which may result in an improved function of that side. Furthermore, the symmetrical pattern can be advanced.

Dooble Hoop

The double hoop drive ensures that the child can steer and propel the wheelchair with one arm. The wheels are driven by an central shaft which is disposed in the transverse tube of the frame. An extra push hoop can be fitted to the wheelchair wheels on the left or right hand side. If desired, the band brakes can also be provided with a one-handed operation.
